The Super Bowl, the championship game of America’s National Football League (NFL), is the world’s richest single sporting event. Nearly half of America will watch it on television on Sunday 3 February.
It’s the most costly advertising platform in the world: each 30-second commercial will sell for $3m. There is no other day in the American calendar which unites so much of the country.
It hasn’t always been so. Today the NFL may fairly claim to be “America’s game” - even though baseball has always been referred to fondly as “America’s pastime”.
The Giants vs The Patriots promises to be an amazing game, can the patriots complete the perfect season.

The New England Patriots will become the first NFL team ever to go unbeaten through a 19-game season if they beat the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII.
The Patriots, led by quarterback Tom Brady, have already set new records for points scored in a season with 589.
And they have their sights set on a fourth Super Bowl title in seven years.
But the Giants boast the league’s leading defence, plus quarterback Eli Manning, and have already upset Dallas and Green Bay in the play-offs.
