Several festival sites lay claim to possessing the most beautiful locations – The Secret Garden, Skye, Oban and Dunstaffage, and of course the ley-lined stone circled Glastonbury greenfelds - but Rockness, especially on a day as cloud free and ideally tempered as last Saturday, would give any of these a run for their money as its valley gently lopes towards the lapping edges of Loch Ness with all its promise of myth and monster.
Rock Ness first took place in 2006, Fatboy Slim headlined with an amazing live show including video mixes on big screens.
Check out You Tube Video of Fatboy Slim at Rockness in 2006
The 2007 event was a 2 day even and it doubled in size with 4 stages and over 70 acts. About 35,000 fans from all over Europe poured in to see performances from acts such as The Manic Street Preachers, the Chemical Brothers and The Feeling.Bands who have being on the Rock Ness Line up include Audio Bullys, Mylo, Daft Punk, Chemical Bros, The Charlatans, Kelis, Grove Armada, Manic Street Preachers, and Mark Ronson. Mark Ronson has had huge hits with his reworking of The Smiths’ song Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One and remixing Amy Winehouse’s version of Valerie.
The 2008 Rock Ness Festival Rumours include a return for Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy maybe headling, and also festival favourites Faithless playing, There is even talk of Led Zeppelin playing but this is very much rock ness gossip.
