The new St Trinians films cost £1m and is just as outrageous to today’s audiences as the original films were in the 1950s.
The original fims were based on cartoons drawn by Ronald Searle, where students were violent, smoked and drank.
Rupert Evertett plays both the unorthodox headmistress Camilla Fritton and her brother in the remake and said: ‘I wanted to make the schoolgirls into drug dealers and prostitutes. I think the new film will be shocking.’
The philosophy of St Trinian’s is summed up simply by the headmistress who says ‘In other schools girls are sent out quite unprepared into a merciless world. But when our girls leave here it is the merciless world which has to be prepared.’
